Fer Fuck's Sake, Tallon!

Someone pound the OHSHIT button in Chi-town. TSN is reporting that due to a clerical fuck-up of the highest magnitude, some of the Chicago Blackhawks' restricted free agents may not have been tendered a qualifying offer in the proper fashion/time frame. What this means is that these players could be ruled unrestricted free agents according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

How the fuck is this even possible?! Even people that have sold things on Ebay know how much regular mail can bugger things up.

The NHL has concluded its investigation and will be passing it along to the NHLPA, who will no doubt push to have these players earning as much money as they can possibly make. Well, tickle my tits till Tuesday.

Bob McKenzie, not a Twatter(for now)

Apparently, there's been a Bobby Mac impostor over on Twitter, and it's caused so much confusion that the respected hockey insider has had to clear his name here. We at Twoteams1Cup take hockey blogging very seriously and frown upon anyone resorting to impersonations.

Sweet Holy Fuck, Gainey!

Scott Gomez reacts to being traded to the wacky sports world of Montreal.

Scott Gomez and his 7.3 million cap hit have been traded to the Montreal Canadiens one day before unrestricted free agency begins. No plans for rioting as of yet.

Kibble's favourite forwards of the 2009 NHL entry draft

This is just a very short list of the forwards I feel are somewhat underrated from the 2009 NHL draft:

MATT DUCHENE(how could one be underrated at 3rd overall? Easy, I think his upside is enormous)
NAZEM KADRI
ZACK KASSIAN(better hands, playmaking ability than people give him credit for. He's going to be such a great character player for the Sabres, and if some people have their way and make the NHL goon a thing of the past, he'll be one of the best fighters in the league)
PETER HOLLAND(the Ducks drafted a Ryan Getzlaf clone here, folks)
LANDON FERRARO
KYLE CLIFFORD
ALEX CHIASSON
ANTON RODIN
JOSH BIRKHOLZ
RYAN HOWSE*
CODY EAKIN
ALEX HUTCHINGS*
LINDEN VEY*
CRAIG SMITH
ALEXANDER AVTSIN*
GABRIEL DUMONT
BRANDON KOZUN*
MICHAEL CICHY*
J SAMUELS-THOMAS
BENJAMIN CASAVANT*

*possibly huge steals for where they were drafted.

I feel that a lot of these guys will blossom into strong NHLers. That said, the future is always hard to see...

And here's some of the kids that didn't get drafted, for whatever reason but probably should have:
-Walters
-Goulet
-Dowling
-Mappin
-Hlinka

I just can't believe no team took a flier on Cassidy Mappin. He showed some of the best strength results at the NHL combine, compares to a poor man's Holmstrom/Cole and had some very nice setups for some of Landon Ferraro's goals from what I've seen. You can factor in the sheer depth of this draft, but I see no reason not to use a 6th rounder on this kid, let alone a 7th.

2009 Post-draft Broad Blitz

The 2009 NHL entry draft has just wrapped up and the Broads will be filling you in on some of the 18 year old kids you've probably never heard of(and may never hear about again).

Just some quick snippets about the 2009 NHL draft before delving a little deeper:

-Landon Ferraro falling to the 2nd round seen as a surprise by some, could be a big time sleeper
-Canadiens might have pulled off a big time heist by taking little-known Russian Avtsyn in the 4th
-Mr Bugg raved about Detroit's selection of Andrej Nestrasil here
-Brock Otten calls the selection of Maple Leafs 3rd rounder Jamie Devane a 'head scratcher' and much more
-Cassidy Mappin goes undrafted

NHL Gnus & Notes: Pronger still an asshole

Rumours of Chris Pronger no longer being top asshole in the NHL were put to rest this past weekend with the trade that saw him off to Philadelphia in exchange for a boatload of youngins and draft picks.

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren had this to say: "We felt he was the biggest asshole out there, and there's no question, he's a perfect fit here with the Flyers."

Thy Will Be Done

...on ice as it is in Bettman's mind.

Amen.

Pittsburgh Penguins, 2009 Stanley Cup Champions. So it is writ.
